2.分组讨论宾馆服务中应该注意的一些问题。

3.安排学生两人一组,按课文对话进行练习。

Reading and Writing一、教学建议语言运用要求:理解并正确朗读课文“Hotels in the World”,完成教材和练习册中本单元所规定的练习。

在讨论文章前面的问题时,能用英语简单表达自己的看法。

二、词汇学习1.accommodation n. 住处(尤指仅供短期使用的)They provided comfortable accommodations for visitors.他们为旅客提供舒适的住处。

2.resident adj. 定居的; 常驻的They engaged a resident tutor.他们聘用了一名住家的家庭教师。

3.estimate vt. & vi. 估计;评价,评估The gardener estimated that it would take him four hours to weed the garden.园丁估计他给花园除草需要四个小时。

4.inventory n. 详细目录, 存货清单This is a detailed inventory of all the jobs to be done.这是一张待办事项的详表。

5.objective n.目标;目的They failed to carry out their objectives.他们没有实现自己的目标。

6.independent adj. 独立的, 自主的, 自立的Children should be encouraged to be independent thinkers.应该鼓励孩子独立思考。

7.individual adj. 个别的, 单独的, 个人的Each individual house has its own yard.每栋房子都有各自的庭院。

8.available adj. 可用的或可得到的I'll send you all the periodicals available.我将把我能得到的期刊给你寄去。

三、课文理解1.They often only account for a third of the totaltourist accommodation used by European residents on holiday.他们往往占旅客住宿总数的三分之一,常为欧洲居民度假所用。

英语中的分数要用“基数词+序数词”来表示,其中基数词表示分子,序数词表示分母。

如:(1)The centimeter is one-tenth of the decimeter or one-hundredth of the meter.厘米是分米的十分之一,或者说是米的百分之一。

(2)However,the number of boys will bea third or less than the girls in the class.但是,班里男生的人数将比女生少三分之一或更少。

从以上例子可以看出:分子除用one外,也可用a;如果分子大于1,分母要用复数形式。

但是,1/2不能说a(one)second,而要说a(one)half。

例如:(3)The sum of one half,one third and one fourth of a certain number is 13.某数的1/2,1/3和1/4的和是13。

1/4和3/4可以说a(one)fourth和three fourths,但常用a quarter和three quarters表示。

应该注意的是,分数修饰名词时,若该名词是不可数名词只能用单数;若是可数名词,用单数或复数均可。

但是,若它们在句子中作主语,则谓语动词是用单数还是复数取决于名词,即与分数所修饰的名词保持一致。

此外,要注意本句中used的使用,这是过去分词做后置定语。

2.The world's inventory of rooms increased by an average annual rate of 2.5 percent between 1987 and 1991.在1987年到1991年之间,世界的客房量在以平均每年2.5%的速度增长着。
