直至1941年12月7日早晨7点53分，日本奇袭美军在夏威夷的基地珍珠港。
次日，美国总统罗斯福在国会愤然揭晓了这篇的演讲，至此，承平洋战争全面爆发。
日本狙击珍珠港的历史违景：日本从1941年中起头向东南亚的发展引起了这个地域主要强国的不安，为了给日本一点颜色，美国冻结了对日本的经济贸易，其中重要的是高辛烷石油，没有石油日本的飞机无法仙游，舰艇无法在海中行驶，日本就无法继续对外扩张。
加上日本的石油只能维持半年的时间，日本明白，要么从其中国撤军，停止对外扩张，交际上向美国挨近。
要么自组旗帜，南下夺取战略资源，继续加强对外侵略。
南洋有美国，英国，荷兰的半殖民地，进兵南洋就等于向美盎司国宣战。
承平洋上的珍珠港是交通的主要枢纽，夏威夷东距美国西海岸，西距日本，西南到诸岛群，北到阿拉斯加和白令海峡，都在2000海里到3000海里之间，跨越承平洋南来北往的飞机，都以夏威夷为中续站。
