An elderly carpenter was ready to retire(退休). He told his boss that he wanted to leave the house-building business . He wanted to live a free life and enjoy his big family. The boss tried to persuade(说服）him to stay. The carpenter said he would miss the paycheck(薪水) each week , but he just wanted to retire. The boss was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house . The carpenter said yes,but it was easy to see that he didn't put his effort into the new house .
