新视野大学英语1(高职高专教材)第九单元说课稿Unit 9 New Jobs TodayGood afternoon, laddies and gentlemen! It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you.The content of my lesson is New Horison English course Book 1 Unit 9(New Jobs Today). I’ll be ready to begin this lesson from five parts: Analysis of the teaching material, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedure,and Blackboard design.First, let me talk about the teaching material.Part 1 The analysis of the teaching material:This lesson is a reading passage. It plays a very important part in the English teaching of this unit. Lesson A and Lesson B are a whole unit.By studying the Lessons, students can improve their reading ability, learn more about new jobs today. At the same time, we should get the students to understand some difficult sentences to comprehend the passage better.The students should do some listening, speaking and writing, too. Of course, the students should receive some moral education.Teaching objectives:1. In Reading and Writing, students will be able to:① identify the main idea of the Text A and analyze some difficult sentences andsome language points;② understand and write notices(2);2. In Grammar, students will be able to practice reducing wordiness(1);3.In Listening and Speaking, students are expected to:①practice the words pronunciation;②remind the Students to use grammatical coherence and fixed expressions;③make a dialogue using the expression of talking about recreational activities;Key points / Teaching important points:1.V ocabularies of A and B level; Phrases and sentence structure;. 2. Reducing Wordiness(1); Notice(2);Teaching difficult points:Use your own words to retell the text.Part 2 Something about the students:1. The Ss have known something about the sea and sea life through theInternet and other ways.2. They are lack of vocabulary.3. They don’t often use English to express themselves and communicatewith others.4. Some Ss are not active in the class because they are afraid of makingmistakes.Part 3 My teaching theories, methods and aidsBefore dealing with this lesson, I’ll do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the students the real masters in class while theteacher himself acts as director; Combine the language structures with the language functions; Let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language.Teaching method: Task-based Approach(任务教学法) ;Communicative Approach(交际教学法);Situtional Language Teaching method(情景教学);Question-answer Teaching Approach.(问题教学法);Watch-and-listen activity;Free discussion method;Pair work or individual work method.Teaching aids:1. a tape recorder2. multimedia3. the blackboardPart 4. Teaching steps / proceduresI have designed the following 9 steps to train their ability of speaking, reading and writing, especially reading ability.Time arragement:The entire steps are:Greetings, Revision, Lead-in and preparation for reading, Fast reading (scanning), Intensive reading, Preparation for details of the text, Consolidation, Discussion, HomeworkStep 1 GreetingsGreet the whole class as usual.Step 2. Revision1. Ask students some questions to revise the last lesson.2. Check the homework.Through this part we can consolidate what they studied yesterday, communicate with others about their results and prepare for the new lesson.Step 3. Lead-in and preparation for readingThe teacher may organize the students to talking abou travelling, including the means of travelling by air, train, boat, etc. Purpose: Arouse the students’ interest of study.Bring in new subject: Try Paris for a Holiday.Step 4. Fast readingRead the passage as quickly as possible, and try to grasp the main idea of the text.1. who are air-couriers?2. what are they supposed to do?3. what would you do if you had some important documents to send?4. Are there any air-couriers in China?5. Will air-couriers be popular in China? Why or why not?Main idea: Low on Cash but flexible travel plans and don’t mind wearingthe same clothes for a week, it can be a great way to take a holiday Method: Read the text individually, use question—and—answer activity. Purpose: Improve the students’ reading ability.Understand the general idea of each paragraph.Step 5. Intensive readingRead the passage carefully again and answer some detailed questions. (1) Why did Brian carry little luggage?-- Because he was required to do so.(2) Who was Toy?-- He might be an air-courier company clerk.(3) Why do air-couriers get cheap airline tickets?-- They take important packages and papers.(4) Why is air-courier travel fast-growing?-- It is cheap.(5) Who is air-courier travel good choice for?-- People who are flexible about travel plans.It is also called depth reading or study reading. It means reading for detailed information.Purpose: Further understand the text (Train further reading ability)to find out some different sentences and details of the text.Step 6. Preparation for details of the text.Structure Analysis:Part I (Para.1-5):Brian carried a package for Torry to Jean Paul.Part IIParagraph7: The advantages of traveling as air-couriesParagraph8-9: Negative aspects of traveling as air-couriesKey Words:criminalcontrastnegativeflexibleexcept forcheck intake offin/by contrastwith/in regard toPurpose: Train the students’ability of understanding and using language. Step 7. Consolidation1. Retell the topic sentences.2. Retell the passage according to the topic sentences.Purpose: I want to know if my students understand the whole text really and if they master what I mean to tell them in this class. What’s more,I want to let them have the ability of introducing and analyzing expression.At the same time, I will write down the topic sentences on the blackboard according to what the students find, so they can retell it easily. Step 8. DiscussionTopic for DiscussionAdvantages and disadvantages of traveling as air-couriers. Purpose: I mean to give them emotional education to arouse their interest of study and their love for job.Step 9. HomeworkFinish exercises behind the textLearn about basic writing skills.Preview Text BPart 5. Blackboard designDivide the black board into three parts:Left side:Lead-in questions:1.who are air-couriers?2.what are they supposed to do?3.what would you do if you had some important documents to send?4.Are there any air-couriers in China?5.Will air-couriers be popular in China? I write the topic sentences on the blackboard in order to tell the students that this isof the importance in this class. The discussion is of the difficulty.I want to make the design inductive, instructive and artistic.。
