Some teenagers even get addicted to mobile games. In this report, we will elaborate both positive and negative effects of mobile games. Through questionnaire, we find that disadvantages of mobile games outweigh its advantages. Addiction to mobile games exists in some teenagers, but it is not a very common phenomenon in life. Most of them play mobile games moderately for fun or to kill time.Introduction:With the development of social software and the widespread use of smart phones, numerous people spend much time playing mobile games. It even becomes an integral part of people’s life. Mobile game has turned to be a new entertainment activity for us.What is more, it is very easy and enjoyable for us to play mobile games whenever and wherever because mobile phone is easy to carry. And mobile games become a new estate, many people benefit from it and a lot of money is thrown into this new-born estate. There are many advertisements about mobile games which attract many young people. It is hard for teenagers to control themselves. To make matters worse, some people even become addicted to mobile games.Although there has been increasing publications over the past years on mobile games recently, the previous research did not investigate the reason for addiction to mobile games clearly. It still remains unknown about the common idea of young people about mobile games. So, it is essential to discover both positive and negative effects of mobile games. Some research was conducted and we can draw some specific conclusions through this research. Most teenagers will play mobile games and are able to control themselves. They think mobile games have both benefits and harm. Reasons for the popularity of mobile games are found out as well.Methodology:This survey was conducted by means of questionnaire and the respondents of the questionnaire mainly are college students. The questionnaire contains nine questions which have four single choice questions and five multiple choice questions. This questionnaire mainly focuses on the age composition of mobile game player and which effect will mobile games have on us. The questionnaire was distributed through internet and finally we get sixty responds from internet. All the respondents are college students. Twenty-six of respondents are male and the rest of respondents are female.Besides the questionnaire, we have other way to collect information. We found some books in the library to collect professional information about the reasons why people play mobile games. We also collect the results of previous research from internet to elevate our original thoughts about mobile games. The literature review help develop the progress of drawing results. Finally, we conduct several interviews about people’s opinion on mobile games. We have five interviewees who are our classmates. All of our interviewees are men, we asked them several questions about their opinion on mobile games. After recycling questionnaires, we analyze the data and combine the conclusion with our results got from interview. Then we use these data to make bar charts which show the frequency of playing mobile games and the purposes of playing mobile games. Results:We investigated 65 people. From the bar chart above, we can see that the horizontal axis is the frequency of playing games and the vertical axis represents the number of people.Besides, we can see that 22percent of people never play mobile games; 48 percent sometimes play mobile games; 18 percent often play mobile games; and12percent of people are always playing mobile games when they are free. So, we can find that most people will play mobile games. From this bar chart, we can see that the horizontal axis is the purpose of playing games and the vertical axis represents the number of people. It is obvious to find most of people play mobile games to kill time and a lot of people play mobile games just because it is portable. However, we can still find that some people have “mobile phone dependence”. They are just unwilling to put mobile phone down. However, there are a lot of people who are addicted to the mobile games and cannot control themselves. Let’s see the bar chart above. We can see most people can control the time they spend on playing mobile games, but there are still a large number of people who cannot control themselves, thus bringing bad effects to their lives.Discussion:First of all, here are answers to some previous problems.1.We want to find out whether mobile games are completely bad for us or not.According to the questionnaire, most people believe that the biggest benefit is to enjoy themselves. Compared with many serious bad effects, we can draw the conclusion that the disadvantages of mobile games outweigh the advantages.2.It is irreversible for mobile games to become a new entertainment way formodern people, we want to find out whether there is a balance between our daily life and virtual life. Most participants have no problem in controlling themselves. We advise that teenagers who are addicted to mobile games should ask their roommates to supervise them and play outdoors to shift their attention.3.Are mobile games really bad for people? What are mobile games’ adverse effects on health? As the questionnaire shows, bad effects are influencingdaily life, doing harm to our eyesight and study, etc.4. Besides mobile games’ adverse effects, mobile games do good to ussomewhat. We try to find out mobile games’ positive effects on man.Everyone needs to rest, so it is not reasonable to having fun. Playing games isa good way to relax for some teenagers, thus making them prepared wellfor the work to come. Also, there are some other advantages such asentertaining ourselves and training humans’ brains.5.In addition to mobile games’ effect on individuals, we also manage to findout mobile games’ social effect. With regard to this question, it is hard togive comprehensive answers because participants are rather limited. Theonly conclusion is that bad effects are existent, but not as serious asimagined. It may be because mobile games are not as attractive an somecomputer games. At the same time, it reflects that our research is necessary. We proposed this topic and do research into teenagers by questionnaire and collect much data to get proper results. Compared with expected results, we achieved our goals and draw some clear conclusions. However, we may overestimate the bad effects of mobile games. There are not many people addicted to mobile games. Our research has some disadvantages too. The number and age of participants are limited, which influences the results of questionnaire. The form of research is also limited, just including questionnaire and interview. Conclusion:As a conclusion, we find that mobile games do have positive effects on teenagers.A considerable number of teenagers spend time playing mobile games which will do harm to not only their eyesight but also to their mental health. To make matters worse, people who are addicted to mobile games can even threat our society. So, we can do something to help them get rid of the addiction to mobile games. For example, we can talk to them and show them the bad effects brought by mobile games addiction. On the other hand, if proper time is spent on mobile games , there will be some benefits such as entertaining and relaxing humans’ bodies. It is quite important for people to achieve a balance between having no rest and playing mobile games too much. We can also see that some people never play mobile games .It will be better if they choose other ways to relax, like exercising or shopping. In all, the disadvantages of mobile games outweigh the advantages. Teenagers should learn to control themselves and achieve a balance between work and relaxing. Reference:1.LIANG Wei-ke(2011).
