Create a Dialogue with a Partner
Use one of following prompts to create a dialogue or make your own (about food in a restaurant.)
You work as an interpreter for a company. One day, you invite one of your American friends to dinner at a restaurant.
Bad ● It is bad for your health ● Fried in oil ● It is bad for food culture ● What else?
These are just examples. Think of other reasons, good and bad.
Read aloud
The pace of life is fast and few people work or study near where they live. Universities and large companies often have cafeterias for students and staff, but most people eat out in places like coffee shops (cafes,) sandwich shops (delis,) and snack bars (fast food,) which can save valuable time and money since the food served there is quick and cheap.

Western dinners are often served in courses. The first ‘course’ is a soup or salad (appetizer). Then the main dish (entree) usually includes meat or fish (protein.) And then finally, dessert is served. Dessert is normally something sweet like ice-cream or cake. Dinner is usually the biggest and longest meal of the day.

Example:
In America we use forks and knives. We eat at home, restaurants, and fast food (McDonalds.) Americans like lots of sugar and lots of salt. There ar emany fat Americans because of this. Americans eat food from all countries because there are many immigrants. For meat, we eat mainly chicken, pork (pig), or beef (cow.) Americans like to drink while they are eating; water, soda (Coke), or alcohol. It is looked down upon to throw away food.
Recently, people have become more concerned with eating healthy food. They have discovered that sugar and carbs (rice, pasta, potatoes) are bad for your health if you eat too much. Therefor, people in western countries try to eat more fruits and vegetables with their meals.

Prepare and Deliver a Speech
Prepare a speech about one of the following topics: The Canteen Service on Campus Everything in Moderation A Man Cannot Live Without Food All good things must come to an End Anything food/culture related (If you pick this option, I expect something fantastic.)
If you plan to go to a restaurant, you may call or make reservations online. Most restaurants have a menu that will give you options for food. If you order beef steak, you will be asked whether you like it “rare, medium, or well-done.” Rare being the least cooked, and well-done being the most.

Is “fast food” good or bad?
