In groups of two, three or four will do a 5minute role play on a topic we’ve discussed so far in class:

How do you justify your answer?
Story 3
You are competing with another student for a scholarship to Harvard University graduate program. You both really want the scholarship and can’t go to Harvard without it.
The dilemma
You find out that your best friend’s husband/wife is cheating (having sex with someone else).
You tell your friend’s spouse that you will tell on him/her about his/her cheating.
Denial of Responsibility: “Everyone does it. If I don’t, I’m left in the dust. Good guys finish last.”
Fear of Failure: Student doesn’t cheat to get ahead— student cheats because of fear of embarrassment or failure. “I have to go to an Ivy League school. I have to win.”
3. How would you compromise? Present and argue a solution that will make both sides happy.

In groups: 1. Create a moral dilemma to share with the
class.
2. Present it to the class for discussion.

In the U.S. there a big debate about abortion. What is the moral dilemma?

Denial of Injury: “No one’s hurt by it.” Twenty-nine percent of students polled in a study said cheating was justified if the student learned from it.
He/she is married to a person you once had sex with at a party while you were a student at BNU but your friend doesn’t know it and may end your friendship and business if he/she ever found out.

The midterm exam will be in two parts: Role-plays, week 10, April 24th, 26th
You find out that the other student is going to get the scholarship. However, you know that he/she is secretly homosexual. If you reveal his/her secret he/she will lose the scholarship and they will give it to you.

Abortioot have the right to abortion because it would be murdering the unborn child.
Group 3
How would you compromise? Present and argue a solution that will make both sides happy.
In groups be able to argue and defend the different sides.

Women should have the legal right to chose whether or not to get an abortion if they get pregnant.

I will give students a schedule of student interviews on week 10 in class.
If your name is not on the schedule please let me know. The interview is half your midterm grade.

You and your best friend are in love with the same boy/girl. You have two tickets to go see The Hunger Games. Both your friend and the boy/girl want to see the movie. If you take the boy/girl you could lose your best friend. If you take your best friend the boy/girl will go with someone else and you will lose your chance to be with him/her.
He/she says that if you do he/she will tell your friend about the two of you having sex and ruin your friendship and business.
