History
• Started as a research project between Sergey Brin and Larry Page, two Stanford University Ph.D students • They thought that a search engine that analyzed the relationship between websites would find better results than existing search engines • Existing search engines simply listed web pages in order of how many times that particular page used the keyword that was searched • Their search engine was called “BackRub”
