参考数据库（文摘索引数据库）, 是一 种报道、保存、检索多学科、多类型公开发 表的学术文献的最有用的工具之一。这类数 据库就是将描述文献（图书、期刊、会议论 文、学位论文、科技报告等）外部特征和内 部特征的信息（如书名、刊名、作者、关键 词、主题词、叙词、报告号、摘要等）提取 出来，利用数据库技术，按照一定的原则和 方法，将上述信息进行组织编排，提供尽可 能多的检索途径，方便读者在海量信息集合 中快速、准确地查找有价值的参考信息。
