Four years’ school life is coming to an end. Recalling the four years’ life, I feel that I got many things. In the thesis writing process, there are many difficulties. II Abstract: College English classroom silence has become a common phenomenon. This not only affects the progress of their teachers, but also hinders students’ access to knowledge. Classroom as the place of teaching is to improve the quality of college English teaching. And the teacher as dominate of imparting knowledge is to regulate the behavior of students and enrich students' knowledge. The classroom silence is bound to affect a variety of teaching activities. This article which employs questionnaires and references to a variety of books and other forms is to analyze the cause of College English classroom silence. And according to the various reasons, the author puts forward corresponding countermeasures. The author organizes the paper as follows: first, this paper according to previous classroom research sum up the domestic English class present situation; secondly, through questionnaires research and previous research summary, from the students, teachers, and social factors, the paper analyze the reasons of college English classroom silence; finally, from students and teachers, the author put forward corresponding countermeasures. 1. Introduction In the 21st century, the close ties between China and other country are increasingly deepening in politics, economy, military, and cultural exchange. Therefore, our country calls for more and more people who have a good command of English. English is a tool of the modern international exchanges, which is bound to be a necessary skill for each of the college students. But the current situation of college English teaching is now far behind the needs of the development of the world. So the implementation of quality education to raise the overall competence of English has become everyone's voices. According to a survey, now the people are worried about the state of college English classroom. As we all know, students in the junior and senior high schools need teachers’ inculcation. However, college students rely on their consciousness, so in the college class they are also more relaxed. It leads a lot of college students to think that their own English ability seems to be no better than that in high school. In China, teacher is the dominant position while students are following to learn. In college English class, teachers are talking about different cases, writing on the blackboard or PPT show, and students are taking notes. It has become a same mode from primary school to university learning to some extent. This is a kind of passive learning. This learning environment is not as good as foreign learning environment, which only makes students develop the habit of listening. And then students have no big improvement on the English learning ability. Therefore, it is understandable about Chinese college English classroom silence. University means to grow up, freedom and chat with others, sleep, play phones when we have classes. And when the teachers ask questions, few students would answer them. Teaching methods abroad is different from teaching in China: foreign teachers focus on the interaction between students and teachers; they pay more attention to the students' self-learning ability; they will give students some prep time to read books; they spend more time deepening knowledge, solving and discussing all of the students’ self-doubts in the classroom. In the U.S., the interaction is the soul of the entire teaching classroom. Students in the United States are the dominance of the classroom, so education in the United States can be called "Liberal Education".
