Nowadays the problem of the generation gap is becoming more and more serious. Poorrelationship between parents and their children are very common.Whether we like it or not, our parents are responsible for us at least until we'reout of high school. So rather than get upset about that fact, maybe we should focuson some ways to make our relationship better. The best way, in my opinion, is to learnto really communicate with my parents. When I find myself arguing with my mom and dad, I try to stop. If I can manageto stop myself from talking, I usually find that I can calm down quickly. I guessI'm usually acting out of emotion rather than logic(逻辑). But if I can stop arguingfor a minute, it seems that my opinion changes and I start to realize that I'm a bitchildish. Emotionally I may still be upset, but logically I understand that yelling(大叫大嚷) and fighting surely won't make things better.Once I've stopped arguing, I look at my parents in the eye. You'd be amazed athow much easier it is to communicate with your parents when you've actually lookingat them. Looking away doesn't do much of anything except for giving them the impressionthat I'm not listening or that I don't care. It's much easier to see things eye toeye when you're physically seeing them eye to eye. Finally, I listen to what they're saying (or at least I try). Communication can'thappen unless both sides hear and listen to each other. There is nothing wrong withmy hearing, but that doesn't mean I always listen to the sounds that people are making. When I argue with my parents, I can physically hear what they're saying withoutmentally listening to it.Whether I admit it or not, my parents' experience can actually help them give mesome pretty sound advice at times. I don't always agree with them, but I think it's safe to say that it has truly helped our relationship in the long run.1.What can we learn from the passage?A. Listening is better than yelling and fighting.B. It is impolite to see your parents eye to eye.C. Be careful when you take your parents' advice.D. Travel LightGetting away for a short time always seems like a great idea—until you have to pack. 1 The rule is: pack light. Here are some tips to help you pack.1. Make a list. Think of what you need from your head to yourtoes. 2 When you’ve done this once, it’ll be easier next time.2. Consider buying small-size samples of shampoo, toothpaste, and other items at yourlocal drugstore. You can reuse the plastic containers next time you go away too.3. Choosing which clothes to bring is probably the hardest packing decision to make.Think once again from head to toe —hat, shirts, jeans, sneakers, etc. Once you’ve picked out what you want to bring, think carefully. Do you really need that extra pair of jeans? If so, fine. 3 Don’t try to fool yourself. You are theone who will be left holding the bag.4. Weather is an important factor in your packing. If it’s cold, you could wear ajacket, a - sweater, a regular shirt, and a T-shirt. Putting them on will keep you warm. 4 Remember how much easier it will be to carry your bag! As for shoes, you may want to call ahead to see if dress shoes are necessary. If so, one pair will be enough, along with one pair of comfortable shoes. Remember that it is you who have been invited somewhere, not your things. 5 So, do it right—pack light.A. Mixing and matching is a smart and easy way to lighten your load.B. But packing won’t be a problem if you remember one simple rule.C. You will have an easier time if you’re weighed down.D. But make sure they’re really worth the extra weight.E. It’s best to bring these things with you.F. And it’ll leave more room in your bag.G. Keep the list for future reference.
