D Hollywood’s theory that machines with evil(邪 恶) minds will drive armies of killer robots is just silly. The real problem relates to the possibility that artificial intelligence(AI) may become extremely good at achieving something other than what we really want. In 1960 a well-known mathematician Norbert Wiener, who founded the field of cybernetics （控制论）, put it this way: “If we use, to achieve our purposes, a mechanical agency with whose operation we cannot effectively interfere(干预), we had better be quite sure that the purpose put into the machine is the purpose which we really desire.”

Population Change Why is the world’s population growing? The answer is not what you might think. The reason for the explosion is not that people have been reproducing like rabbits, but that people have stopped dropping dead like flies. In 1900, people died at the average age of 30. By 2000 the average age was 65. But while increasing health was a typical feature of the 20th century, declining birth rate could be a defining one of the 21st.

• 今年全国卷I的B篇阅读 这篇文章讲的是一个好心 人救助猫头鹰的故事。文章 出处是美国纽约长岛的一家 小报。是一封读者来信。 原文落款就是读者大名。高考 试卷基本就是把这封来信原封 不动搬了过去。比如第一段， 除了删去一个超纲词汇，其他 内容完全copy 不走样。
二、只要是讲严肃议题，从名人故事到科技 新知，追根溯源一般都是严肃媒体。
