The spring city-Kunming
Located in the center of the Y unnan-Guizhou Plateau in Southwest, the capital city of Y unan province, Kunming, is famous as the the spring city, and it is also one of the 24 historical and cultural cities in China. Kunming enjoys a long history, splendid culture, unique climatic conditions, distinctive nature and human landscape, colorful ethnic customs and abundant resources, which makes Kunming a place of wonders and beauty.
With 4 districts and 8 counties in its area, Kunming covers 15561 square kilometers, where live about 3.7 million people from 26 ethnic groups. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the downtown is at an elevation of 1891 meters. In the south is Dianchi Lake. The average temperature of the city is 15.1℃, and it changes very little. The cool summer and warm winter cultivate the city flower camellia and other 400 flowers blooming in four seasons. Since Kunming has a mild climate, year-round spring, Siberia's hundreds of thousands of black-headed gulls migrate south in groups every winter, share the breath of spring in Kunming.
The Stone Forest, one of the four most famous Chinese scenic spots, is located in Lunan Yi Autonomous County to the southwest of Kunming city 90 kilometers away from the downtown area. Covering an area of 350 square kilometers, it is the largest extant intact Karst limestone formation. Here is the Sani people community, in the fable Ashima’s
hometown. The peculiar natural scenery and colorful ethnic customs make people intoxicated.。
