摘要制糖行业在广西工业规模小、基础薄弱、新兴工业还处在成长期的现阶段地位十分突出，是广西传统优势产业和重要经济增长点，是集农产品种植业、加工工业和流通业为一体，实现一、二、三产有机结合的“航母”级产业，是广西推进社会主义新农村建设、构建和谐社会的重要支撑。
然而在新的历史阶段，广西制糖行业大而不强的现状制约了产业的健康发展。
当前制糖行业经过十几年的发展，制糖产业进一步集中，糖企规模进一步扩大，产业集群初具雏形；随着中国加入世界贸易组织以及国家产业政策调整等因素的影响，广西制糖行业从内到外都得到了很大的改革与发展，取得了巨大的成就。
这表明广西制糖行业已经初步具备蜕变为具有国际竞争力的优势产业的实力。
但分散的农业种植模式与现代化工业生产之间的矛盾也越来越突出，土地集约化经营，农业规模种植、种植机械化、科学化等已经成为广西制糖行业由大变强的关键因素。
本文拟以农业经济理论为理论基础，结合国际、国内糖业发展形势，分析广西制糖行业的现状，从广西制糖行业面临问题、发展前景等研究入手，探求符合当前广西制糖行业发展策略，实现广西制糖行业顺利蜕变。
