Teacher’s instruction. Exp lain the profound theoretical knowledge in class;2. Case study. Provide case study during teaching, and make the students discussabout the case;3. Bilingual and full English teaching;4. Student-centered approach; situational & communicative method;5. Project-based approach;Teaching Procedures(教学步骤):Pre-reading ActivitiesStep 1. GreetingsGreet the whole class warmly.Step 2. Lead-in and preparation for readingAsk students to look at the pictures on the screen and talk to each other about the following questions:1. What jobs are the students in the pictures doing?2. If you are going to work part-time, what job would you like to take? Why? Step3. Fast readingAsk the Students to read the passage as quickly as they can and then answer the question on the screen. Let them get the main idea of each paragraph and make clear about the text structure.Lead-in: To work or not to work---That is the questionMeaning: Should students work or not work? That is an important question, which requires careful consideration.Note: The title is a reference to a quote from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet: “To be, or not to be, that is the question.”(生存还是毁灭,这是一个值得考虑的问题(朱生豪译本)——《哈姆雷特》(英-莎士比亚)中的经典独白)For Hamlet it was a life-or-death question. Here the author means that “to work or not to work” is also an important question. For other examples:Quantity or quality, that is the question.是重数量还是重质量,这是个问题。

To buy or not to buy, that is the question.买还是不买,这是个问题。

Text structure: (structured writing) The passage can be divided into 3 parts.Part1 (para.1) Research methodsPart 2 (para2-4) Research findingsPart 3 (Para.5-8) Explanations for the negative effectsPart 4 (Para.9) Conclusion of the researchPurpose: Improve the students’ reading and writing ability and understand the general idea of each paragraph.Method:Read the text individually and talk in groups; Use task-based language teaching method, reading approach, communicative approach and total physical response method.Step 4. Preparation for details of the text on the screenStudents are required to look at the Words and Phrases on the screen and give a brief presentation in class.Words and Phrases:Purpose: Train the Students’ ability of un derstanding and using foreign language. Method: Talk in groups, Use task-based language teaching method, communicative approach and total physical response method.1.
