适应什么需求？
发展、变化、创新…

–爱迪生(发明电灯泡后): “我要把灯泡做得便宜到只有阔人菜点得起蜡烛!”;
–电子表vs. 机械表(P/C ↑>>103)；光纤vs. 铜线；
DWDM vs. 单信道(EDFA).
•需要吗？是！
–技术发展极快，技术寿命期<物理寿命期；
–用户要求短期甚至立即得到利润.
•“先进性”本身并不能保证成功
–过度“革命性”或与市场相距太远可能导致失败,
–与现有产品的关系,
–市场定位.

•我们调遣着光子和电子:
•他们生而不平等
–基本特征不同：
•光子象患有儿童多动症的男孩（停不下来)，长于信号传输，
•电子向文文静静的女孩，长于信号处理。

–材料平台不同：
•电子：Si是信号处理的理想材料平台
•光子：？？？
•…因此必须不同对待：用其所长
–光子：“带宽发掘”(DWDM, OA…) ;
–电子：“带宽提炼”(FEC, EDC…)
•用其所短：全光信号处理(耗电、占地…)

Help us navigate our way Through those world wide webs…We taught you how to do so many things…
To eat the right foods, to dress appropriately,
To fight for your rights…

our conversation…
Let us have the necessary time to remember…
And, if we can’t, don’t become nervous…As the most important thing is not our conversation,
But surely to be with you
And to have you listening to us…
