Use Note Tags and Search to keep track of your notes
Using note tags
Using note tags couldn’t be easier.
Just click (or tap if you’re using a Tablet PC) on the note you want to tag and then select the type of tag you want to use. You can add tags to typed text, pictures, and handwriting.
Once you’ve marked notes with note tags, you can easily find them by using the Tags Summary task pane.
On the View menu, click (or tap) All Tagged Notes. The Tags Summary task pane displays a list of notes that you have tagged.

Using note tags
You can get to note tags in several ways.
• The Insert menu, Tag command. • The Tag button on the Standard toolbar. • Keyboard shortcuts.
If you’re in a meeting and have an action item assigned to you, or just want to make sure something doesn’t fall through the cracks, tag it as a To Do item, or as Important. OneNote then helps you find any tagged note by grouping note tags and displaying them in a list. There are 29 note tags available in OneNote.

Select which parts of a notebook or notebooks to include in the summary.
For example, you could choose to look at just notes with To Do tags. To really help you out you can also choose to display only the unchecked ones — no need to include completed items in a To Do list. The summary page makes a copy of all your tagged notes; it doesn’t remove the originals.

Overview: Tag, you’re it
You may be an avid note taker who’s written down everything you need to know. But the information is useful only if you can find it when you need it later. OneNote has several features to help you find the notes you want. This course shows you how to mark notes with note tags and then display handy lists of the notes that you’ve tagged, or use the powerful search options to find a particular note.

Create a summary page
You can quickly create a summary page of certain note tags.
For example, if you’ve marked your notes with lots of Important tags that are scattered across several pages, you can create a new page with just the Important notes on it. You can even print or e-mail the summary page.
