I appreciate the girl, Liz. After watching the movie “Homeless to Harvard “for the second time. I could see clearly what drove the girl through the difficulties was her belief, toughness and pressure.
Suffering a series of things that Liz’s mother and father paid no attention to her, that she did not know how to keep herself clean and that she seldom went to school. Finally, the cops drove her out of the house, into the system for those who did not paying for the rent. I remember clearly what the cops said in the movie. They said, “You will have time to figure out how do want to live out your life if your dad did not take you.” Then, it became true. She found no back, and lived in the group home. Later, Liz got her new friend, Chris. But in terms of their inner desires, they were quiet different from each other. I mean Liz liked reading and wanted go to school. Things turned bad. What shocked Liz most was her mom’s death. People died, and thing changed. Everything that seemed so solid became meaningless. We remembered what we chose, though.
Finally, Liz decided to get out of such a falling life. She found her grandma and told her grandma that she won’t be a idiot. S he wanted to go to school.
Fortunately LIZ got a chance into a public school. The chance given by David really changed her life. The chance the climb up the place she has been born in. The chance she can step into a better world.
In my mind, David played a very i mportant role in Liz’s life. Meeting a good teacher is the gift from God, which guides you out of darkness and into the sunshine. But that Liz herself saves herself is the most important.
In the end, I got a conclusion that if you refuse to save yourself, nobody can give you a second life. Please remember there is only one who can save you is yourself!。
