Pomegranate ['pɒmɪgræ nɪt] (石榴)
• As we all • know,pomegrante has a lot of seeds inside its pericarp. • Greek considered it as a sympol of life and parturition. Thus, it became Hera's sacred plant. • . because Hera is the god of marriage.
Asphodels(金穗花) In the world of death, Hades set the ghost in the place full of asphodels.
Yew (紫衫)
Yew and Erinyes [i'rinii:z] (复仇女 神) Yew is a sacrifice to the Erinyes who always punishes criminals in many different ways including use the poison of yew. It’s said that five hundred gram yew’s leaves can make one horse die.
Daffodil(水仙花)
• Narcissus is a famous pretty boy in Greek myth. It's said that Echo fell in love with Narcissus, but she was rejected by Narcissus. Finally she died because of despire and a broken heart. Fury, the goddness of revenge, punished Narcissus by making Narcissus fell in love with the reflection on the river. Narcissus then also died and became daffodil. Another version of the story was that Echo cursed Narcissus after the rejection.
Violet ['vaɪələt] (紫罗兰)
• Iamus is the son of Apollo and Evadne who is a prophet. He was abandoned right after his birth on the ground bloomed of violets. When he was found, he was fed by snakes with the nectar of violets. Hence, in ancient Greek, Iamus means violet.

White poplar(白杨) Because of the one bright ,one dark leaves of white poplar ,it has always being a symbol of Hades who bring life to an end . Therefore the bright side represents life and the dark side death.

Olive (橄榄)
• In an archaic Athenian foundation myth, Athena won the patronship of Attica from Poseidon with the gift of the olive. And olive became Athena's sacred plant.

It was said that when Persephone was carried by Hades, her mother Demeter was very upset and used poppy which had narcotizing effect to decrease her sadness.
• Crops(稻穗) • Demeter’s sacrificial offerings are cattle 、 fruits and crops. This is mainly because she is the goddess of harvest 、agriculture and plants.
Grapevine(葡萄树) According to the legend, grapevine is invented by Dionysus. It’s the gift sent for people.
Hyacinthus [,haiə'sinθəs] (风信子)
• Hyacinthus was the beautiful god of plants in Greek myth who was loved by Apollo and Zephyrus. When Apollo and Hyacinthus were playing a game of quoits, Z envied that so he changed the wind direction so that H was attacked by A’s quoits and dead. In the place where H’s blood stayed growed Hyacinthus in memory of his death.
Cypress ['saɪprəs] (柏树)
• Cyparissus is the son of Telephus,and he was also loved by Apollo. When Apollo killed his deer by accident, he was very sad. So Apollo turned him into a cypress. Nowadays cypress represents sadness.

Oak tree(橡树) Oak tree is generally tall and flourish, so ,it’s natural for the Greeks to connect the oak tree with the most powerful and mighty god ---Zeus.
Iris tectorum(鸢尾花) • In honor of Iris (霓虹女神), one kind of flower get the name of iris tectorum. It was said that Iris would accompany souls through the rainbow bridge made of irises to help those souls to arrive at the land of peace.
Laurel[‘lɒr(ə)l] (月桂树)
• It was said that Cupid had two kind of arrows, one kind was made of gold which gave people a strong desire for love, another kind was made of bronze which gave people a disgust of love.And Cupid shot Apollo with the gold arrow and shot Daphne with the bronze one. When Apollo met Daphne, he hopelessly fell in love with Daphne. While Daphne resist Apollo all the time, then she became a Laurel tree with the help of her father. Since then, Apollo made the Laurel tree as his sacred plant.

Myrtle ['mɜːt(ə)l] (桃金娘) Aphrodite’s representative objects are dove、peony 、poppy 、 apple and myrtle . Since the evergreen leaves and pretty white flowers just represent youth and beauty ,like the goddess herself ,the Greeks respected myrtle very much. She has this plant to represent her identity because it was said that she once used the flower to cover her body when she rise naked from the sea.
Oak [əʊk] and Banyan['bæ • Philemon and Baucis are couple. They treated Zeus and Hermes with great enthusiasm, so Zeus gave them long life and turned them into oak and banyan after their death.
