Plenty of retired officers argue that business people have much to learn from the armed services. For example, business theorists increasingly emphasizes the importance of corporate culture, yet many new businesses do a dismal job of nurturing it. The military services, by contrast, have been adept at preserving their culture ata time of social turmoil. Granted, they have sometimes been slow to change. Americaonly lifted the banon openly gay troops in 2011, and on women in combat lastmonth. But still, armies are much better than other institutions at building alifelong esprit de corps. Military mottoes make strong men cry: (“The few, theproud”; “Who dares wins”). Most corporate mission statements make desk warriors cringe with embarrassment.4. That emerging businesses attach less attention to nurturingculture is mentioned to__(A) show the importance of corporate culture in the times ofturbulent society.(B) show difference between theorists and the new business.(C) show private sectors should take a page from military category.(D) show military mottoes also make warriors cry. C:business people=private sectortake a page from= learnmilitary category=armed forceANALOGIES change. Once, it was fashionable to describe the brain as being like the hydraulic systems employed to create pleasing fountains for 17th-century aristocrats’ gardens. As technology moved on, first the telegraphnetwork and then the telephone exchange became the metaphor of choice. Now it is the turn of the computer. But though the brain-as-computer is, indeed, only a metaphor, one group of scientists would like to stand that metaphor on its head. Instead of thinking of brains as being like computers, they wish to make computers more like brains. This way, they believe, humanity will end up not only with a better understanding of how the brain works, but also with better, smarter computers. 1. The sentence “one group of scientists would like to stand that metaphor on its head”most probably means .(A) one group of scientists would like to change the brain as the metaphor of head.(B) one group of scientists would like to make the brain more like a computer.(C) one group of scientists would like to put the metaphor on the brain.(D) one group of scientists would like to design a brain-like computer. Instead of thinkingof brains as being like computers, they wish to make computers more likebrains.
正确!a brain-like computer.
onegroup of scientists would like to stand that metaphor on its head的翻译是:但有一批科学家想要将这个比喻给倒过来。
That idea does not mean environmentalists concerned about uncontrolled industrial growth are anti-science, as an essay in US News & World Report last May seemed to suggest.选项:Environmentalists were blamed for anti-science in an essay.
He is not arguing,as many do,that we can no longer think straight because we do not talk proper. Many believe that logical thinking is necessarily related to the way we talk.
Kevin is handsome. As is shown above, there is a hotpot in the middle of the picture. As 做句子的主语,指代后面的句子:there is a hotpot in the middle of the picture.
That idea does not mean environmentalists concerned about uncontrolled industrial growth are anti-science, as an essay in US News & World Report last May seemed to suggest.选项:Environmentalists were blamed for anti-science in an essay. That idea does not mean environmentalists concerned about uncontrolled industrial growth are anti-science.
