一个个子虚乌有的女性都是复杂的，包括她们的形体和灵魂。
在贾平凹作品中，写的多是一些具有中国传统美德的女性。
她们美丽善良，孝顺温柔，坚忍……可以说她们汇聚了中国传统妇女的一切优秀品质。
但她们往往没有好的结局，往往会受到感情的伤害。
作者多从男性角度出发，以男性的视野来描写女性。
这多表现了其男权主义的审美观和价值观，带有浓厚的男权意识。
这使他笔下的女性缺乏个人人格，没有独立的精神品质。
所以说这也是作者笔下女性形象的缺憾。

他塑造了很多出色的女性形象，如《远山野情》中的香香，《浮躁》中的小水，《小月前本》中的小月，《高老庄》中的西夏等等，她们的身上有着闪闪的光辉吸引着读者。
