JY2722 Two-Channel Soft-Start TechnologyConstant-Current LED Driving ICFigure 1OverviewJY2722 is a two-channel constant-current output LED driver IC which is specially designed for spot light, mining light and mini street lamp to meet their features and requirements. With the packaging of ESOP8, JY2722 has the features of small size, simple peripheral circuits and few peripheral elements. JY2722 has two constant-current output channels working with external MOS power tubes which enables the output current to reach a high of more than 150 mA. JY2722 can also fit the general 3V LED light source such as 5730, 7020, 7030, 3535, etc.JY2722 can drive a power of 100W which can absolutely be applied in the design of general spot light, mining light, mini street lamp and other medium power LED lighting products.In addition to the excellent electrical performance of JYxxxx series, JY2722 has alsoused our company’s latest LED soft-start patented technology. At the power-on moment, the beginning current is only 20% of the working current. Then it increases generally to 100% in 5s. The maximum peak voltage of the input impulse signalsis 5V. The output current would be changed by changing the input impulses’ widths. The DIM port can connected with any MCU and other intelligent control modules to realize the fun ctions of intelligent controlling or mobile phones’ APP controlling. The DIM1 is used for OUT1 while the DIM2 is for OUT2. They can be used independently or in parallel.●External PWM dimming portJY2722 offers an external PWM dimming port DIM.●Intelligent temperature protectionJY2722 has the function of intelligent temperature controlling. When the chip junction temperature reaches 100℃, the chip would decrease the output current automatically. When the chip junction temperature reaches 150℃, the chip would turn off and lock until turn off the power and repower-on.Figure 3Figure 3 shows the temperature performance under the conditions of 220V AC input and 120mA output.JY2722 can work in very low temperature environment and has passed low temperature tests.●Applying low power CMOS process, high integration and patentedtechnologiesJY2722 integrates two independent linear constant-current modules, external remote controlling connecting module, external PMW dimming module, temperature controlling module, etc.●High power factor and high reliabilityAny products of JYxxxx constant-current series can work without capacities and reach a high power factor of 0.97. JY2722 has high reliability with a trouble-free time over 50000 hours. It supports general SCR elements and external PWM dimming. DIM port can connect with any MCU to achieve the goal of intelligent controlling or dimming.●High accuracy of constant currentJY2722 has a very high accuracy of constant current. It can also keep a constant current in the area where voltage is very unsteady.Figure 4Figure 4 shows the VI performance under the conditions of 120mA output and a range of input voltage of 190V~260V.●Linear driving without EMIJY2722 works under the linear situation and provide no electro-magnetic interference (EMI) while working. It can pass any tests of EMC and EMI.●Few peripheral elements and simple applying circuitsWith simple peripheral circuits and few elements, JY2722 can be applied in many occasions. It can be used directly on the lighting source boards to integrate the drivers and the lighting sources to cut cost.●Intelligent joint control mechanism between temperature and dropout voltageThe most obvious disadvantage of the normal linear constant-current drivers is that the IC has to undertake the dropout voltage. So, when the power voltage exceed the normal range, the driving circuits would consume more power and the temperature would increase. High temperature would influence the circuits’ stability and the products’ reliability.JY2722 applies the intelligent joint control mechanism between temperature and dropout voltage to solve the problem mentioned above. While working, the system would adjust the output power automatically according to the temperature, power and dropout voltage. When the temperature is higher than 120℃or the input voltage exceeds the normal range, the IC would decrease the output power. The output power would increase to the normal value when the temperature or the input voltage return to the normal range. Also, when the IC detects that the temperature of the lighting sources is too high, it would decrease the power as well to protect the LEDs and extend their life.ApplicationJY2722 is suitable to be applied in high-power LED lighting products such as spot lights, mining lights and mini street lamps. Equipped with sensors, it can also be used in hotels, office buildings, hospitals and underground parks. JY2722 can achieve the real automatic energy-saving lighting.Figure 1 shows a typical application circuit. JY2722 has two constant-current modules which can set their current value independently. Here, CSA and CSB represents the sampling ports of A and B channel respectively. Sampling voltage is 0.3V coming from R2 and R3 at the source electrodes of MOS tubes. The resistant value canbe decided according to the constant current with the formula:R=V/I.Here, R is the current sampling resistant which is connected to the source electrodes in series. V is the sampling voltage of JY2722, which is 0.3V normally. I is the output current of LEDs. For example, if the LEDs current needed is 100mA, then the R should be 0.3 (V) / 0.1 (A) = 3Ω. The rest can be done in the same manner.In applications, two channels of JY2722 at be used simultaneously or only use one channel. While using two channels, the output ports should drive two MOS tubes respectively and using their own sampling resistances to gain sampling voltages. The output ports (drain electrode) of MOS tubes can be connected in parallel. It can also drive two series of LEDs independently as well.In the typical application circuit, the value of R1 is 510k-810k and the C1 is 1 -2.2 uf 35v.The second pin of JY2722 is the external PWM dimming port. It can connect to MCU directly. By outputting PWM signals, MCU can dim the lights. JY2722 can also use DC voltage of 0-5V input into DIM port to dim.The third pin of JY2722 is HAL, the half-power enable port. When input low level, the output power of both channels would decrease 50%. In some occasions like hotels or underground parks, with connecting to sensors, the chip output 50% of the full power in normal time and increase to 100% when people or cars pass by. Typically, the port connects to ground through a 10kΩresistance. When the sensors output low level, the chip output 50% of the full power. When the sensors output high level, the chips output full power. This port can connect with timer as well to control street lamps and save energy in the time after midnight.PackagingJY2722 can be applied in areas with electric supply voltage of AC220V-240V or AC100V-120V.Working voltage range:Areas with supply voltage of AC220V: AC190V -260V.Areas with supply voltage of AC110V: AC85V -135V.。
