The module covers topics that include: linear programming, Transportation and Assignment Problem, Network Optimization Models, Game Theory and Decision Theory. Analytic technique and computer packages will be used to solve problems facing business managers in decision environments. Furthermore, students are required to complete project oriented homework to learn how to solve real problems occurred in practice with techniques learned in this course.运筹学作为一门决策工具已在各个领域得到了广泛的应用。

Course Learning Objectives:课程学习目标:This module aims to introduce students to use quantitative methods and techniques for effective decisions-making and grasp model formulation and applications that are used in solving business decision problems.By the end of semester the student should be able:1) To appropriately formulate quantitative model for operational research problem raisedfrom the real world;2) To apply operations research techniques and computer packages to solve operationsresearch problems;3) To understand and apply the results to improve management decision making process.本课程旨在让学生了解运筹学相关的各类基本定量模型的构造技巧与求解基本方法,并介绍易于掌握的规划求解工具,以帮助其在将来的学习和职业生涯中提高决策能力。

The project will be conducted in teams of 2 or 3 (the number may vary depending on the number of students in the class). Each team will choose the problem they wish to study. The only stipulation to the project topic is that you must be able to model theproblem with the methods involved in this course.There are various elements of the project that must be submitted throughout the semester. Early in the semester you must submit a team name, with team members, and a project proposal. This proposal should include a brief description of the problem, a set of objectives, and an outline of the steps to be followed. The project should culminate in a written report and a 10-minute presentation. The format for the written report should follow a format similar in structure to the sample report that I will post. Finally, team presentations must include participation from all team members. Due dates for all elements will be announced.
