它不仅能够提升企业对自身产品质量的关注，提升顾客对商品质量和服务方面的满意度，更能督促企业降低管理成本，实现企业价值最大化。
库存是影响国民经济运行与发展的重要因素。
实践证明，库存合理，将会促进经济高效率运转，反之，库存不合理，如库存过于分散、库存物资积压等，则会阻滞经济快速发展。
零库存就是准时生产方式，其理念是新效率，是一种集约化管理思想，即：千方百计地通过减少生产过程中的一切浪费，降低消耗，节约资源来提高效率和效益。
在这种理念和管理思想指导下运行的生产系统，存货水平更低，浪费最小，空间占用最小，生产过程没有中断，生产物流得到优化。
零库存是当今时代库存管理的理想状态，是综合管理实力的体现。
本论文首先论述了库存和零库存的相关理论，然后分析了零库存管理在国外的发展情况。
最后，就零库存实现途径和方式，提出了一些具体的实现方式。
任何管理手段和技术都是需要成本和代价的，作为明智的企业，必须做到投入小于产出，因为企业总是要有盈利才能够生存。
因此，企业在实行零库存管理时，应该积极地思考和改良，不能盲目实践。
实现零库存需要在采购、生产、物流、销售等经营活动中环环相扣，在实现零库存的过程中，尚存在着一定的障碍，零库存给企业带来的风险不可忽略，其可行性更值得从正反两个方面进行研究。
