个人简历
1988年获北京理工大学硕士学位,1992年于加拿大维多利亚大学电气及计算机工程系获博士学位。同年受聘到加拿大莱克海德大学任助理教授。1994年受聘转任加拿大阿尔伯塔大学电气及计算机工程系助理教授和高级机器人及遥控研究室主任,1998年提升为副教授并转为终身教授,2000年提升为正教授。2001年任香港中文大学自动化与计算机辅助工程系访问教授,2002年起任香港中文大学电子工程系教授。2006年起任深圳先进技术研究院研究员。
主要科研成果及所获荣誉
孟教授共发表论文250多篇,约半数以上被SCI,EI等国际机构收录,毕业博士生和硕士生二十人,博士后三人。其中由接受假眼移植的病人眼电波精确控制的可移动人造移植眼球的研究成果是全球首创并得到世界各大媒体的报道和转载。此外,孟教授还受聘担任863机器人专家组海外专家和中国自动化学会智能控制和自动化专业委员会委员。在加拿大,香港和国内,分别主持过加拿大国家科学和工程研究委员会,香港研究资助局,国家自然科学基金,863和其他政府机构及私人企业资助的在机器人、传感器,和生物医学工程及康复医学工程方面的科研项目约30项,(总资助额超过人民币两千多万元)。
目前担任多个国际学术期刊的编委工作,包括由国际电气和电子工程师学会和美国机械工程师学会合办的学术期刊IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics的编辑和IEEE Transactions Fuzzy Systems的编委,以及《高级机器人》,《智能控制和系统》,《信息获取学报》等国际学术期刊的编辑以及多个国际学术会议的大会总主席,程序委员会主席和组委会成员等,包括2005年IEEE/RSJ InternationalConference on Intelligent Robots and Systems(IROS 2005)国际会议的大会主席和2006年IEEE International Conference on Mechatronicsand Automation国际会议的大会主席。所获各类奖项中包括2000年获颁发的国际电子和电气工程师学会(IEEE)千年大奖章

Achievements
He published more than300 research papers. He has chaired more than 30 research projects, and these projects have been supported by various NSERC and industrial grants inCanada, RGC grants in Hong Kong, and NSFC and 863 grants inChina. He has a lot ofprofessional society experience, including the editors or associate editors for several IEEE journals and other international journals. He also served as the general and program chairs ofmore than 10IEEE international conferences.

Max received his Ph.D. degree inElectrical & Computer Engineeringat theUniversity of VictoriainCanadain 1992, following his M.Sc. degree inAutomatic Controlat theBeijing Institute of TechnologyinBeijing,Chinain 1988. Max was a Professor in theDepartment of Electrical and Computer Engineeringat theUniversity of AlbertainCanadafrom April 1994 to August 2004. Currently Max is a Professor in theDepartment of Electronic Engineeringat theChinese University of Hong Kong.He currently acts as the Director of theIntelligent SensingResearch Centerat SIAT.
