BAC KGROUND OF THE IN VENT IO NEl ect ri cal ly ope r at ed irons are pr ov i ded wi th an electric cord to extend t o apower out l et. It has been known to provi de the rear end of irons wi th means about which the electric cord may be wound for storage pu rp os es. However, this previousl y known means of storing t he el ect ri c cord has not been successful as the cord in e ss en ce is not ret ai ne d in a coiled configur ation. Th ere has also been the need to reduce the overall length of the i ro n in order to ensure stability of the iron when i t rests on i ts rear face so as to have the hot plate generally upwardl y extendi ng. If the rear of the i ron i s extended to accommodate the cord, the iron becomes less stable due to i ts h ei ght when in the rest pos ition.Steam irons are provided with a resevoir into which water is delivered, which water is transformed into steam duri ng the ironi ng p rocess. Frequently new irons are sold with a beaker which may be used to deliver water t o the water inlet of the iron. Th ese b ea k ers are not physically associated with the iron and accordingly become l ost.OBJECT OF TH E INV ENT IONIt is the obj ect of the present invention t o overcome or sub st ant i al ly ameliorate the above disadvantages.SUM MARY O F TH E IN VENT IONThere is di scl osed herein a garment iron compri sing:a main body provi ding a handle and being equi pp ed wi th a sol epl at e, and electrically ope r at ed means to heat the soleplate, said body havi ng a rear face wi th en ga ga bl e means;an elect ri c cord ex t endi n g fr om said body to connect sai d el ect ri cally operated means to an el ect ri c supply; and a cord r eel about whi ch said cord i s wound, said reel having attachment means to r el eas abl y engage said engagable means to selectively secure said reel to said main body.Preferabl y the reel is hollow so as to provi de a cavi ty, and a beaker i s shaped to be received within said cavity.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF T HE DRAW IN GSA p referred form of the p resent invention will now be described by way of example wi th reference to the accom panying dr awi ngs wh erein:FIG. 1 is a schematic parts expl oded perspective view of an iron i ncorporati ng a cor d reel and beaker;FIG. 2 is a schematic rear el ev at i o n of t he reel of FIG. 1;FIG. 3 is a schematic fr ont elevation of the reel of FIG. 1; FIG. 4 is a schematic t op pl an vi ew of t he reel of FIG. 1; FIG. 5 is a schematic bottom plan view of t he reel of FIG. 1; andFIG. 6 is a schematic sectioned side el evation of the reel as illustrated in FIG. 5 sectioned along the line 6--6. DESCRIPTION OF TH E PREFERRED EMBODIMENT In the accompanyi ng drawi ngs t here i s schematically depictedan iron 10. The iron 10 includes a main body 11 provided with a sol epl ate 12 wh ich is electrically heated. The body 11 is al so pr ov i d ed with a handle 13 and a rear face 14. Th e soleplate 12 is connected to an el ect ri c cord 15, which co nn ect s the sol epl ate 1 2 t o a suppl y of electricity.Adjacent to the rear face 14 is a lip or flange 16, whi ch pr ov i d es an engagable means to be operatively associated wi th a cord reel 17. The cord reel 17 has a forward flange 18 of " L- shaped" configuration so as to have a base 19 and a forwardly projecting lip 20. The flange 20 ex t ends down the left and right hand sides of the reel 17 and isadapted to en gage the flange 16 so that the reel 17 can be mounted adj acent to the face 14. Th efl ange 18 i s particularly co nfi gu red so that the reel 17 i s coupl ed to the flange 16 by downw ard m ov em ent o f the reel 17 over t he rear face 14.The reel 17 has a recess 21 which forms a loop and within which thecord 15 iswound. The rear of the reel 17 is also pr ov i d ed with a fl ange 22 so that the cord 15 has its loops sandwiched between the flanges 18 and 22.Th e reel 17 is of a tri angul ar confi guration wi th its upper apex pr ovided wi th a trough 23 having a f orward aperture 24 whi ch en abl es the cor d 15 to enter the trough 23, and a rearw ard aperture 25 enabling the cord to extend down wardl y from the trough 23 t o a l ow er trough 26. Th e cord 15 passes thro ugh t he trough 26 and t hen is woun d arou nd t he reel 1 7 so t hat the loops are cont ained i n the recess 21.The reel 17 Is of a hol low con fi gu rat i on so as to provide a central chamber 27. Lo catabl e wi thi n the chamber 2 7 i s a beak er 28 which is of a complementary shape to the chamber 27 and includes a recess 29 i nto which the trough 23 proj ects, and a rear recess 30 down which thecord passes to enter the trough 26. Th e beaker 28 may beof a "dish" co n fi gu r at i on so as to have an open face or alternatively may be provided with a filling neck eq ui pp ed with a s top p er. Ho w ev er the preferred construction of the beaker 28 hasafilling aperture 38 which i nhibi ts st orage of the beak er 28 w i th water i n it.Preferably the beaker 28 can "snap" fit within thechamber 27. To secure thereel 17 in position, there is provided a catch 31. The catch 31 isformed integral with the remainder of t he reel 17 and includesa lever 32 terminating at one end with a finger grip portion 33. The finger grip portion is moved in the di recti on of the arrow 34 to cause pi voting of the lever 32 i n the direction of the arrow 35. The forward end of the lever 32 is pr ov i d ed with acatch member 36 having a catch lip 37. Pivoting of the lever 32 in the di rect i on of the arrow 35 causes pivoting of thecatch member 36 in the direction of thearrow 38. The lip 37 engages a lower portion of the fl ange 16 or an abutment especially provided. When the reel 17 is moved down the flange 16, the lip 37 isresiliently deflected rearward until the reel17 has reached itsrest position. Thereafter, t he lip 37;.m oves i nto i ts clip engagement position. To release the reel 17, the user moves the fi nger gri p portion 33 in the direction of the arrow 34. Thisthen pivots the lip 37 from engagement and permits the reel 17 to be moved upward relative to the fl ange 16 until the flange 18 is disengaged t her ef rom. Preferably, the reel 17 is moul ded of pl asti cs m ateri al. The beaker 28 wouldbe also moulded from plasti cs m at er i al.The above described preferred embodi m ent has the advantage of providing a st or age for the cord 15, which storage in use will not add to the overall length of the iron body 11 so that when the iron body 11 i s resting on i ts rear f ace 14, the cent er of gr avi ty of the iron body 11 is not too high. Normally in use, the reel 17 is removed together with the beaker 28. A ccordingly the reel 17 i s not i nt ended to be a fi xture in respect of the body 11. When the iron 10 is to be stored, thereel 17 i s attached to the bo dy 11.
