英语课程标准特别强调:要关注每个学生的情感,激发他们的学习英语的兴趣,帮助他们建立学习的成就感和自信心,使他们在学习的过程中发展综合语言运用能力,提高人文素养,增强实践能力,培养创新精神。
课文复述要求学生识记、掌握语言知识,并使其转化为实际运用能力,因此,课文复述作为一种综合性较强,而又富有创造性的训练形成,在整个中学英语教学中起着不可忽视的作用。
在英语教学中,注重课文的复述,具有深远的意义。
一、复述课文有利于提高教学和学习效率要提高英语教学效率则必须做到讲在应讲之时,练在值得练之处。
这就要求教师能及时地了解学生对课文的理解程度。
复述课文可以帮助教师了解哪些知识学生已经掌握,哪些根本不理解,再根据实际情况,教师适当地启发,讲析在难点之处,点拨在恰当之时,从而使课堂教学的效果有大地提高。
课文复述中,学生既要运用新学的词汇、习惯用语,又要联系以往的知识,在新旧语言知识的串联过程中,学生不仅是温习旧知识,学习巩固新知识,而且提高了学生正确处理语言的能力,提高了学习效率。
二、复述课文有利于学生建立学习的成就感和自信心一般说来,学生都有较强的表现欲望,并希望得到教师和同学们的认可和赏识。
复述课文以课文为基本依据,因此只要学生认真阅读课文,熟悉课文内容,那些英语基础较差的同学也有话可讲,让他们找到成就感,树立学习英语的信心。
三、复述课文有利于发展学生的创新能力复述不是背诵,不是照搬原文,而是一种基于理解的创新。
它又不是对课文内容的简单重复,它要在充分理解课文的基础上,通过联想和想象,进一步充实内容,发展情节,更具体生动地用自己的语言刻画人物的形象。
综上所述,复述课文是有效完成教学任务的一条好的途径,那么如何训练复述呢?1.看表格复述教师把课文内容以表格的形式呈现,让学生复述。
学生利用表格内容,重组课文就得心应手了。
学有余力的学生还可以模仿课文内容,复述your favorite book的内容,提高了学生的想象能力。
2.以时空顺序为主线复述复述时,教师把文中的时间或地点写在黑板上,让学生复述与此相对应的事实。
例如New Standard English初三上册Module 3 Unit 2 Liu Xiang trained for gold sports yearbook 2004,画出时间轴,列出刘翔的成长。
Future plans appear in films, advertisements and record music2004 won an Olympic gold medals in Athens2002 won in Switzerland and Korea2001 training program changed1998 hurdling skill noticed1993 started training at sports school1983 born复述参考短文:Liu Xiang was born in Shanghai in 1983. In 1993 he went to a sports school. In 1998 his skill at hurdling was noticed by his coach Sun Haiping. In 2001 he was helped by a special program. In 2002 he won his first international 110m hurdling event in Switzerland. In 2004 he won the first Olympic gold medal in Athens. He became Chinese hero. In the future he will asked to appear in advertisements and films and even to record music.3.完成句子复述课文根据课文大意,在理解的基础上,写上自己的话,然后复述课文。
例如New Standard English初三上册Module 1 Unit 2 Questions and answers首先Complete the sentences:(1)Lin Hao takes a long time to watch films and listen to songs in English because she tries to understand all the new words.(2)To learn English the Language Doctor thinks Lin Hao should talk about the film or song with her friends and try to guess the meaning of the new words.(3)Sam is often shy when he has to speak to the foreign teacher.(4)The Language Doctor advises Sam to take a deep breath and smile before he begins.(5)Oliver forgets his new vocabulary because she tries to remember all the new words.(6)The best way to learn vocabulary is to try to remember eight or ten words a day.完成句子后,我们发现,6个句子拼凑在一起,不就是一篇短文吗。
4.回答问题复述课文教师根据课文内容设计问题,学生回答问题,然后学生用连接词把答句连成复述短文。
例如New Standard English初二上册 Module 4 Unit 2 Hope for the future。
.首先Answer the questions.(1)Did Liu Sanzi finish studying? No, he didn’t. (2)Why did Li Yinming stop going to school? Because his parents were ill and he had to look after them. (3)When did he stop going to school? A few years ago. (4)What has Project Hope raised money for? To pay for education of poor children, build schools and train teachers. (5)Did Shen’s school have lots of books last year? No, it didn’t. (6)Who has given money to Project Hope? People in China and abroad. 复述参考短文:Liu Sanzi didn’t finish studying. Li Yinming stopped going to school a few years ago because his parents were ill and he had to look after them. Now they can go to school again with the help of Project Hope. Project Hope has raised money to pay for education of poor children, build schools and train teachers. Thank those people in China and abroad who gave the money to Project Hope.5.利用图片、关键词复述课文教师将课文内容制成多媒体课件图片或简笔画,在配以关键词,把抽象的课文内容直观生动地展示给学生。
例如New Standard English初三上册Module 7 Unit 2 The camel that I rode had a bad temper。
复述参考短文:The food and drink most Australians like are grapes, lamb, ham and wine. The games that they love the most are football, cricket and rugby. They love going to the beach, swimming and surfing. There are lots of sheep in the fields and on the hills. So it’s called the country riding on the back of the sheep. 总之,课文复述是促进英语教学和学习的有效方法,它锻炼了学生语言表达能力,发展了学生创新能力,提高了学生学习英语的兴趣。
教师要在平常的教学中加以合理利用,必能起到很好的效果。
