南丁格尔简介
1820 年 5 月 12 日 ，弗罗伦斯 ·南丁格尔生于 英国 的一个名门 富有之家，家境优裕，她的父亲威廉 ·爱德华是一个博学、有文 化教养的人，是一名统计师。母亲芬妮 ·史密斯，也出身于英国 望族，不但家道富裕，更是世代行善，名重乡里。南丁格尔自幼 便在家庭里接受教育 , 但最后不顾父母反对，毅然选择成为一名 护士 。 南丁格尔年轻时虽然过着上流社会令人羡慕的生活，但她内 心却感到十分空虚，觉得生命毫无意义。一直到决心选择做一名 为人服务的护士后，她才强烈感受到生命的意义。 19 世纪 50 年代，克里米亚战争爆发了，英国的战地战士死 亡率高达 42% 。南丁格尔主动申请，自愿担任战地护士。她竭 尽全力排除各种困难，对他们进行认真的护理。仅仅半年左右的 时间 伤病员 的死亡率就下降到 2% 。每个夜晚，她都手执风灯 巡视，伤病员们亲切地称她为 “ 提灯女士 ” 。

南丁格尔先后创建了世界上第一所正规的护士学校、助产士及 经济贫困的医院护士培训班，被人们誉为现代护理教育的奠基人。 1901 年，南丁格尔因操劳过度，双目失明。 1907 年，她获得英 王授予的功绩勋章，成为 英国历史 上第一个接受这一最高荣誉的 妇女，其后还发起组织 国际红十字会 。 1908 年 3 月 16 日，南 丁格尔被授予伦敦城自由奖。南丁格尔终身未嫁， 1910 年 8 月 13 日，南丁格尔在睡眠中溘然长逝，享年 90 岁。 她的一生，历经整个 维多利亚女王 时代，对开创护理事业做 出了卓越的贡献。她毕生致力于护理的改革与发展，取得举世瞩 目的辉煌成就。这一切使她成为 19 世纪出类拔萃、世人敬仰和赞 颂的伟大女性。 南丁格尔逝世后，遵照她的遗嘱，未举行 国葬 。后人赞誉她 为 “ 伤员的天使 ” 和 “ 提灯女士（神） ”“ 提灯天使 ” 。 为了纪念她的成就， 1912 年， 国际护士会 (ICN) 倡议各国 医院和护士学校在每年 5 月 12 日南丁格尔诞辰日举行纪念活动， 并将 5 月 12 日定为 国际护士节 ，以缅怀和纪念这位伟大的女性。
