Step 1. Lead in
Ask the students some questions:
1.Do you like to make new friends? Why or why not?
2.Who is your newest friend? How do you meet?
Step 2. Listen and answer
1.Listen to the tape carefully then answer the following questions:
Ⅰ.What does Danny want to buy in Beijing?
Ⅱ.Who is Danny’s new friend?
Ⅲ.Where does Wu Li come from?
2.Discuss the whole text.
Make sure the students understand the meaning of the text.

1.Have them read the text aloud for a few minutes and correct their pronunciation when necessary.
2.Ask students to come to the front and act out their dialogues.

with 是介词,意为“和……一起;随身携带”。

4. There are a lot of places of interest in Beijing. 在北京有许多名胜。

1) a lot of 许多,大量,即可以修饰可数名词,也可以修饰不可数名词,相当于lots of。

2) places of interest 名胜。

5. How about you? 你呢?
How about…? 意为“……怎么样”,相当于What about…?
Step 5. Deal with “LET’S DO IT”
You meet a new friend on the train or bus. What should one say to a new friend? What can one do to enjoy time with a new friend? With a partner, write and practice a dialogue. Present your dialogue to your classmates. Guide the students to discuss the questions.
