而油画艺术作为绘画领域里一个重要的表现形式，在满足人类情感表达与审美诉求方面，发挥了无法替代的作用。
作为一个起源于西方的画种，在西方历史发展的不同历史时期，呈现出了无数艺术家和不朽之作。
这些经典的巨作与现实生活完美结合，提高了人类的审美情趣，又使人类的心灵得到安慰，而作为舶来之品，中国几千年的文明历史为其生根发芽提供了丰厚的养料和肥沃的土壤，从一开始就为其打下了现实主义的烙印。
本文通过分析东西方油画创作对历史的记录及对时代精神的理解，着重分析中国油画发展的历史进程，油画从外来艺术发展成为中国绘画的组成部分，经历了漫长的学习、吸收和成长的过程。
而这经历蜕变的百年历史也正是中华民族从遭受屈辱到自强自立，再到繁荣富强的过程。
几代油画家把个人情感与民族命运紧密相联，创作出一幅幅反映社会现实的感人画面，人文精神在这些优秀主题性油画创作中得到了充分的体现。
在研究这些伟大历史巨作的同时与当下油画创作的一些现象相比较，以此讨论主题性油画创作的社会现实意义。
油画家作为知识分子的一部分，理应应担负讴歌时代、记录历史的社会文化责任。
阐述新时期文艺工作者应该从关注现实生活中美好事物出发，创作出更多符合新时期人文审美情趣的主题性油画作品。
本人作为主题性油画创作工作室的研究生，在以后的油画创作中，要保持清醒的头脑，与时俱进，反映社会现实，争取创作出具有一定社会意义的好作品。
