Huangdi captures Chiyou
蚩尤作① 兵伐黄帝。黄帝乃令应龙② 攻 之冀州之野。 Early in ancient times, Chiyou, head of a large tribe,gathered his men to attack another tribe headed by Huangdi. As a counterattack, Huangdi sent Dragon Ying, who can cause drought, to attack the outer suberbs of Chiyou's Jizhou.
黄帝擒蚩尤
• 蚩尤作① 兵伐黄帝。黄帝乃令应龙② 攻之冀州之野。应龙畜③水，蚩尤请风伯、 雨师从 ④大风雨。黄帝乃下天女曰魃⑤， 雨止，遂杀蚩尤。
• 注释：
• ①作：制造。②应龙：传说中有翅膀的龙。 ③畜：通 “蓄”，蓄水。④从：通“纵”。⑤ 魃（bá）:黄帝的女 儿。一说是领，他 们之间经历了多次的战争，互有胜负。作兵，造作兵器， 传说蚩尤发明了五种兵器：戈、殳、戟、酋矛、夷矛。风 伯雨师：风神、雨神。
应龙畜③水，蚩尤请风伯、雨师从 ④大风雨。 黄帝乃下天女曰魃⑤，雨止，遂杀蚩尤。 Dragon Ying stored large amount of water; while Chiyou sent for two deities in charge of wind and rain respectively who later summoned violent storms by performing spell to burst Huangdi's dyke.Huangdi asked Demon Ba to remove their magic and the heavy rain stopped. Finally, Chiyou was killed.
