6.1.1 Safety Equipments
All electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles use high-voltage circuits that if touched with an unprotected hand could cause serious burns or even death*1. Highvoltage cables are identified by color of the plastic conduit and include blue or yellow (42 volts), or orange (144 to 600 volts or higher). The safety equipments must be used in the servicing and repairing the HV circuits. These equipments include:

·CAT Ⅲ digital multimeter. This meter is required for
making measurements on hybrid electric vehicle high-voltage systems.

句子分析:All electric vehicle是指全部时间使用电驱动的纯电动汽
车。That … or even death是一个定语从句。
参考译文:纯电动汽车和混合动力电动汽车都使用高压电路,如果用
无保护的手接触这种高压电路,可能会造成严重烧伤,甚至死亡。

·Eye protection. When testing for high voltage, wear an eye
protection. If the high-voltage system has not been powered down or has not had the high-voltage system disabled, a shock hazard is always possible. Even when the high-voltage system has been disconnected, there is still high voltage in the HV battery box. Some vehicle manufacturers specify that full face shields be worn instead of safety glasses when working with high-voltage circuits or components.
·Fiberglass pole. Ford requires that a ten-foot insulated
fiberglass pole be available outside the safety zone to be used to pull a technician away from the vehicle in the unlikely event of an accident where the technician is shocked or electrocuted*2.

New Words and Phrases
句子分析:that…or electrocuted是requires的宾语从句。在此宾
语从句中,where the technician is shocked or electrocuted是 vehicle的定于从句。
参考译文:福特公司要求,在安全区外应提供一根10英尺高的绝缘玻
璃钢杆,以便在发生不太可能的意外事故时,将技术人员从他遭受电击即 触电的车辆中拉出来。

·Rubber gloves. Be sure that high-voltage lineman's
gloves are available, before working on the high-voltage system of a hybrid electric vehicle. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements specify that the high-voltage gloves get inspected every six months by a qualified glove inspection laboratory. Use an outer leather glove to protect the high-voltage rubber gloves. Remember that the gloves always are inspected carefully before each use.
·Safety cones. Ford requires that cones be placed at the
four corners of any hybrid electric vehicle when service work on the high-voltage system is being performed. They are used to establish a safety zone around the vehicles so that other technicians will know that a possible shock hazard may be present.
