I feel honored to come here on my first visit to your beautiful city.
我愿借此机会，代表我们代表团的全体成员，向我们东道主的诚挚邀请，对我们一踏上这块充满魅力的土地便受到的友好款待，向东道主表示真诚的感谢。

On behalf of all the members of my mission(使团、代表团), I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to our host for their earnest invitation and gracious hospitality we have received since we set foot on this charming land.
与此同时，我很高兴这次访问给予我一次极好的机会，向市长先生和上海人民转达我国政府和人民的热烈问候和诚挚的良好祝愿。

Although we live with a distance of thousands of miles between us, “Long distance separates no bosom friends,” as one of your Tang poets said.
整个世界都在以极大的兴趣注视着中国正在发生的巨大变化，尤其是注视着上海这座蓬勃向上的特大型城市所发生的巨大变化。

令人惊讶的是，25年来中国经济强劲持续增长，没有哪一个国家可以与其媲美。

The whole world is watching with great interest the remarkable changes that are taking in China, particularly in Shanghai, a thriving and robust megalopolis（大城市、大都会，近义词：metropolis）. To our great amazement, this country boasts a two-and-half-decade persistent economic growth, which is unequalled elsewhere in the world.
中国奇迹般地迅速崛起为亚太地区最具有实力的经济强国之一，吸引了并将继续吸引我国越来越多的商业、制造业和金融业的巨头来华投资，尤其是在上海及其周边地区的许
多长期项目上投资。

China’s miraculous rise as one of the strongest economic powers in the Asian-Pacific region(亚太地区) has attracted, and will continue to attract, a growing number of business, manufacturing and financial giants in our country to invest in China, particularly to invest in a number of long-term projects in Shanghai and its surrounding areas.
在过去的10年里，没有任何一个地方像浦东那样对我国商业界产生了如此之大的吸引力。

Over the last decade, there has never been any place other than Pudong that holds so much attraction for our people in the business community（商业界，商界）.
正是基于对这一状况的认识，我们来到上海寻求进一步发展我们在经济和金融方面进行合作的更好的途径。

It is with this awareness that we have come here to seek better ways of promoting our economic and financial cooperation.
我此行的目的之一就是缔结我们的《投资保护协定》和《知识产权保护协定》。

One of the objectives of my mission is to sign our Investment Protection Agreement and Intellectual Property Rights（知识产权）Protection Agreement.
我此行的另一目的是希望能与中国同行携手建立一家以
在上海的跨国公司为服务对象的合资咨询服务机构。

I am also seeking possibilities of establishing, through partnership with our Chinese colleagues, a joint consultancy firm that will provide services for transnational corporation in Shanghai.
最后，我此行的又一项重要任务是向上海市长面呈来访我市的正式邀请，希望市长阁下在其方便的时候尽早访问我市，以便使我们能有机会来回报我们在这里受到的热情款待。

Last but not least, I would like to extend in person our official invitation to the mayor of Shanghai. We would like His Honor to visit our city at his earliest convenience, so as to give us an opportunity to return the warm reception and hospitality we enjoy here.
我非常珍惜我们两座城市之间的密切关系，我也非常重视我们作为你们最重要的贸易伙伴之一所享有的地位。

I greatly cherish the close relationship between our two cities. I also greatly value the position we enjoy as one of your most important trading partners.
尽管近年来世界经济处于不景气的状态，我们之间的经济合作和贸易额却一直在稳步增长。

In spite of the worldwide economic recession in recent years, there has been a steady growth in our economic cooperation and
trade volume.
我们真诚地希望彼此之间继续密切合作，发展我们的友好关系，确保我们在经济、金融和贸易方面的合作持续增进。

It is our sincere wish that we continue to work closely together to enhance our friendly relationship and to ensure a sustained growth in our economic, financial and trade cooperation.
