在英语中颜色词在不同语境中的不同解释
颜色可以表达人物内心的情感。

下面举几例供大家在学习中参考。

1.blue表示不愉快的心情。

eg：be in a blue mood, a blue Sunday. scream blue murder意思是惊恐的叫喊；in a blue moon 意思是极为罕见；out of blue的意思是出乎意料；blue -brick school 好学校(知名学校)；blue water 大海；blue-sky 不切实际的，空想的；blue-eyed boy 得意门生等等。

2.black 与贬义的形象相关时，blacklist(黑名单)、black market(黑市)。

但英语中的black 在译成中文时并非所有时候都译成“黑”，除了black dress译作“青衣”外，还有black tea(红茶)、black sheep(害群之马)等。

另外，in the black指公司盈利，相对应的词组in the red 赤字，亏损；be in one’s black books意思是进入某人的记过薄，得罪某人；look black 意思是前景不妙；under the black dog意思是沮丧；a black letter day表示倒霉的一天。

3.green在不同的语境中有不同的含义。

a green apple生苹果，未成熟的苹果；a green worker 是生手，学徒工的意思；green thumb又称green fingers指善于园艺，具有园艺技能。

另外英文中颜色词第一个字母大写常被用作英文姓氏，如Mr.Green(格林先生)、Mrs.Black(布莱克夫人)等。

4.red在中国是吉祥如意的颜色，但在英语中see the red light表示觉察到危险；red light district(红灯区)是代表妓女出没的地方；see red意为使人生气，发怒；red eyes意思是嫉妒；red tape指的是繁文缛节，形式主义；red meat 表示牛肉，羊肉。

5.white白领white collar 相对的是蓝领blue collar。

a white lie译作善意的谎言；white night 不眠之夜。

6.yellow show a yellow streak 意为表现胆怯；a yellow streak 意为性格怯懦；yellow dog 意思是卑鄙小人；yellow press 指登花边新闻，造谣生事的报刊；yellow look意思是怀疑的目光。

汉语中的色情电影在英语中则用blue。

7.pink相应的搭配有in the pink(of health或condition) 身体健康；the pink of perfection 尽善尽美；pink collar 粉红色阶层(指妇女从事的职业如护士、秘书等)。
