Henry Higgins, a paradox, a mirror
After reading the Pygmalion, all in my mind was ideas about Henry Higgins, he really gave me a surprise, let me lost in thought strongly. Generally speaking, Henry Higgins was a paradox. I can not deny that he was a kind man, even more kind than most people in that time. His knowledge and skills were amazing, what more valuable is that he enjoyed sharing the fortune with his students. Thanks to his fervent, his students could have chances to get rid of the class constraint, they could spend more time on exploring this magic world, they could better their soul and mind to be wiser. However, Henry Higgins was naive in the meanwhile. That kind of naive was fatal for his life. He always consider himself as the right one and used his ways to solve all the problems around him. His original idea was good while he was not able to transform this idea to good performance. Considering his personality, that was quite formal. In order to achieve his goals, he could finish it by all kinds
of means without any hesitation.
As for his attitude towards Eliza Doolittle, to some degree it was similar to his personality, full of naive thoughts. At first, he merely regard Eliza as a kind of tool, he needed this tool to improve his linguistics. For so long a time he have not realized that Eliza was important to him, nevertheless, when he finally realized clearly, Eliza was not that young girl any more.
In addition to this, Henry Higgins was also a mirror for us. Actually there are thousands of Henry Higgins around us in our daily life. On one side we are kind and we believe that we will not hurt others forever, on the other hand we made trouble for friends often. What made people sad is that most of us have not realized that serious question, just like Henry Higgins. Hopefully we can keep a clear mind as soon as possible, which will bring happiness to this unbalanced world.。
