1．子曰：“由!诲女知之乎!知之为知之，不知为不知，是知也。
"理译：The Master said，“Yu，shall l teach you what knowledge is? When you know a thing，to hold that you know it；and when you do not know a thing，to allow that you do not know it；this is knowledge．‟‟辜译：Confucius said to a disciple，“Shall I teach you what is understanding? To know what it is that you know，and to know what it is that you do not know，⋯that is understanding．‟‟2. 子曰：“唯仁者，能好人，能恶人。
”理译：The Master said，“It is only the virtuous man，who can love，or who can hate，others．‟‟辜译：Confucius remarked，“It is only men of moral character who know how to love men or to hate men．‟‟3. 子曰：“朝闻道，夕死可矣!"理译：The Master said，“lf a man in the morning hear the right way，he may die in the evening without regret．”辜译：Confucius remarked，“When a man has learned wisdom in the mooring，he may be content to die in the evening before the sun set．‟‟4. 子曰：“吾十有五而志于学，三十而立，四十而不惑，五十而知天命，六十而耳顺，七十而从心所欲，不逾矩。
”理译：The Master said，“At fifteen，I had my mind bent on learning．“At thirty．I stood firm．“At forty．I had no doubts．…'At fifty，l knew the decrees of Heaven．“At sixty，my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth．“At seventy，I could follow what my heart desired，without transgressing what was right．‟‟辜译：Confucius remarked，“At fifteen I had made up my mind to give myself up to serious studies．At thirty．I had formed my opinions and judgment．At forty I had no more doubts．At fifty I understood the truth in religion．At sixty I could understand whatever I heard without exertion．At seventy I could follow whatever my heart desired without transgressing the law．‟‟5. 子曰：“德不孤，必有邻。
"理译：The Master said，“Virtue is not left to stand alone．He who practices it will have neighbors．‟‟ 增词法辜译：Confucius remarked，“Moral worth is never left alone；society is sure to grow round him．‟‟ 单词“him"为无源之词，出现得有些突兀。
6. 子贡问曰：“孔文子何以谓之…文‟也?"子曰：“敏而好学，不耻下问，是以谓之…文‟也。
"理译：Tsze—kung asked，saying，“On what ground did Kung—wan get that title of WAN?”The Master said，“He was of an active nature and yet fond of learning，and he was not ashamed to ask and learn of his inferiors!-··-·-On these grounds he has been styled WAN．‟‟辜译：A disciple，speaking of an ancient worthy of the time，enquired of Confucius saying，“How was it t hat he had the title of…Beau—clerc‟added as an honour to his name after his death?‟‟“He was，”answered Confucius，“a man of great industry，who applied himself to self-culture；he was not ashamed to seek for information from others more ignorant than himself．For that reason he has had the title of …Beau-clerc‟ added as an honour to his name after his death．”7. 子曰：“默而识之，学而不厌，诲人不倦，何有于我哉?"理译：The Master said，“The silent treasuring up of knowledge；learning without satiety；and instructing others without being wearied：·---·-which one of these things belongs to me?”辜译：Confucius then went on to say，“To mediate in silence；patiently to acquire knowledge；and to be indefatigably in teaching it to others：which one of these things can I say that I have done?”8. 子曰：“不愤不肩，不悱不发。
举一隅不以三隅反，则不复也。
"理译：The Master said，“I do not open up the truth to one who is not eager to get knowledge，nor help out any one who is not anxious to explain himself．When I have presented one comer of a subject to any one, and he cannot from it learn the other three，I do not repeat my lesson．”辜译：Confucius then went on to say，“In my method of teaching，I always wait for my student to make all effort himself to find his way through a difficulty，before I show him the way myself．I also make him find his own illustrations before I give him one of my own．When I have pointed out the bearing of a subject in one direction and found that my student cannot himself see its bearings into other directions．I do not then repeat my lesson．9. 子在齐闻《韶》，三月不知肉味，曰：“不图为乐之至于斯也。
"理译：When the Master was in Chi，he heard the Shao，and for three months did not know the taste of flesh．“I did not think,” hesaid．…'that music could have been made SO excellent as this．” ．辜译：When Confucius on his travels was in a certain State he，for the first time，heard played a piece of ancient music(the oldest then known in China)．Thereupon he gave himself up to the study of it for three months，to the entire neglect of his ordinary food．He was then heard to say．“I should never have thought th at music could be brought to such perfection．‟‟10. 子曰：“三人行，必有我师焉：择其善者而从之，其不善者而改之。
‟‟ (学生对比)理译：The Master said，“When 1 walk along with two others，they may serve me as my teachers．1 will select their good qualities and follow them，their bad qualities and avoid them．‟‟辜译：Confucius remarked，“When three men meet together，one of them who is anxious to learn can always learn something of the other two．He can profit by theg ood example of the one and avoid the bad example of the other．‟‟11. 曾子曰：“士，不可以不弘毅，任重而道远。
